It was raining heavily. The funeral had already ended, but Thomas stood there alone, in front of his wife’s grave, who had passed away a year earlier during an excursion. He still couldn’t accept that she would never come back.
Others were starting to disperse, but he didn’t move. The rain was intensifying, and the silence weighed heavily on his shoulders. Suddenly, he heard a soft, but clear voice that broke the heavy silence. He turned around abruptly.
A little girl was standing there, soaked to the bone. Her dark curls were sticking to her cheeks, and her eyes were strangely calm, far too calm for her young age. She looked to be barely ten years old.
“What did you just say?” Thomas asked.
The little girl hesitated for a moment, but her gaze remained fixed on him. Then, she repeated the words that froze Thomas in place.
Everyone looked at each other, surprised, not understanding what was happening.

“Your wife is not dead, I saw her the night she disappeared.”
The young girl explained that she had seen Thomas’s wife, injured, coming out of the water before being taken away by a group of men in a van.

This revelation deeply affected Thomas.
He followed the girl to a small coastal village.
There, in an isolated cabin, he found his wife, weakened and covered in multiple wounds.

Two weeks after this discovery, their story made the front page of the newspapers, but Thomas didn’t pay any attention to it.
Elena was slowly recovering from her ordeal, and little by little, their lives began to regain a semblance of normalcy.
